·   Their Mission: The Wisconsin Assisted Living Association is the premier assisted living organization in the state.  WALA promotes standards of quality care and provides valuable member services to organizations providing assisted living services to older adults. Membership in this organization is indispensable.

WALA is flexible, interesting, committed and hard working. We believe deeply “in the soap we sell,” better care for those who live in our assisted living facilities.

·   Sample Projects: Many varied projects available and they can be tailored towards your needs and interests.

·   1) Interview WALA members to ascertain value received from the association. What do they value, what else should we do to increase value? This may include web-based, phone and/or personal interviews. Some travel may be required. Even more important will be to interview those who are NOT WALA members and to help us ascertain how we might be able to provide them value. 2) WALA now has a low cost student membership in our association. Research and develop ways to expand the student membership to students in the healthcare professions at colleges and universities statewide. Once again, some travel will be required. 3) Help develop curriculums, products, webinars, seminars and training materials to provide new access points for assisted living providers. Expand the web based WALA store into a one-stop shopping for training and best practices providers. 4) Help secure scholarship funding for training for all providers who need our training but also need a scholarship. This is a really unique opportunity! 5) Additional projects that are geared towards the interns own personal strengths and interests.

·   Preferred Areas of Study: education, social sciences, social work, health care/nursing, business-ALL
